About a year ago, we put in a request with city services to have part of our sidewalk replaced. They came out on Friday and jackhammered a couple of sections and removed the concrete with a backhoe. The kids were watching the guys work at our front windows. Megan was watching intently for a while and then looked at me and said "how will we walk?"
Then, the next day....Uncle Jimmy came over and asked Megan about the sidewalk. She told him about the tractors etc. He said "When are they gonna fix it" and without hesitation, she told him "Two weeks". After getting snow on Saturday night, she might be right about that timeline!

Getting ready for Diego
On Saturday, Megan got to go see Go, Diego, Go! Live! with her Grandma, Grandpa and cousin. This picture was taken right before she left. She was getting herself all psyched up with a little guitar before the show. She had concerns that it was gonna be "too loud" and thought she would have to cover her ears....turns out it was just fine. The next day she was talking about it to her brother and when I asked what she said, she told me "not you...my talking to Jake!"

Ahhh....Imagination
So, on Friday I was home with the kids. I was in the kitchen feeding Jake and I hear this little voice upstairs that sounded like Megan was either crying or singing. So, I walk up there and peek in her room and she's wearing a Santa hat and saying "Merry Tristmas, Merry Tristmas"...while cooking a pretend meal (in high-heeled Barbie shoes). Once she spotted me (and Jake), she wanted us to stay in there. I said "Can Jake have a toy to play with?" And she started looking around and pointing at each toy in here field of vision..."not this one, not this one"....etc. She must have pointed out 20 toys. Finally she decided that the only thing he could play with was a piece of plastic swiss cheese. Poor Jake.

Yep, it's cold here
With a high of 10 degrees lately, we've had to find lots of indoor activities to keep us busy. Megan keeps asking to go swimming, but I can't bring myself to get into a cold pool when it's this cold out. We go to our Kindermusik class every week and Jake has almost as much fun as Megan. He can sit up and beat on a drum with the rest of the "big" kids.
She also asks almost every day, "Are my friends coming over for the party?" She loves parties and apparently thinks we should have one all the time. We made a birthday card for Megan's babysitter the other day. She used scissors for the first time and handled them like a pro. We also had a huge pile of tiny pieces of pink paper on the floor -- as a matter of fact, some are still there since I haven't carried the vacuum down to the basement to clean them up.
I also broke my own rule of No Play Doh. Megan now plays with it happily for an hour at a time at the counter and Jake sits next to her and bangs her cookie cutters on the table. Who knew Play Doh could be so great? Just as long as it doesn't make it over to my rug. Whatever - - as long as everyone's somewhat happy, then I'm happy!
