Here's Jake showing off his Easter egg, which he proceeded to crush in his hand shortly after this photo. This is a pretty strong-willed little guy. I took him to the grocery store with me (and Uncle Jimmy) yesterday. Every time I would slow down or come to a stop at an intersection on the way there, he would scream at me, "Go! Go!". Jimmy said, "Well, looks like he'll never be late". And then, this morning when we were driving to Debbie's, we passed a construction site with all sorts of big machinery. We were stopped at a stop light, so he got to check out the 'tractors' for a short while and when the light turned green, he started screaming, "See! See!". He obviously wanted me to stop so that he could watch them in action. And, I failed to mention that he insisted upon having his window down on the way there - even though it was only 40 degrees out. So, when I wouldn't stop, he threatened to throw his book out the window. He was just holding it at the edge of the window and giving me a look like, "I'm gonna do it if you don't stop". So, I started to roll up the window and he got all upset. We managed to work it out :-) Keep in mind, all of this happened in a span of 3 blocks - just imagine what my entire day is like!

Easter Fun
Megan had a great time coloring Easter eggs. She and Darin painted and dipped almost two dozen eggs. We didn't let Jake get near the dye - that would have been a disaster. They both had a great time hunting for eggs on Easter morning.
This is not Easter related, but it's a funny Megan story. To backtrack a bit, Jake has had a wicked cough for a couple of days, so on Saturday, they were playing in Megan's room and I was in the kitchen. Megan came down the stairs all upset and said, "Mom, Jake was trying to puke on my bed". I just kind of laughed and she got all serious and said, "It's not funny. He's trying to do it on purpose". Now, if he was 8, I might believe it...

Train Adventure
Yesterday, Megan and Jake got to take their first train ride. We have a Metra stop about a block away, so we got geared up in the morning, walked down to the train station and happily waited for our train. We were standing on the platform and a few people were on the other side, waiting for the southbound train. Jake turned into Mr. Social. As soon as someone new walked out onto the platform, he would say, "Hi....good". Yes, that's Jake's latest thing. He used to say "hi" and then Darin would say, "how are you" and he'd say "good". Now it's an automatic thing....."Hi" pause, pause, "Good!"
We rode the train to Edgebrook, which is the very next stop and took all of 3-1/2 minutes. But, they each sat in their own seat and looked out the window and were thrilled with the ride. Once there, we visited Starbucks, where they had milk in a coffee cup and then we came home an hour later. Once the weather gets a little nicer, we'll make the trip downtown.

Rain Boots
Jake loves Megan's rain boots. As a matter of fact, he freaked out the other day when Megan put them on to actually wear out in the rain. Darin was taking them to Debbie's in the morning and Jake wanted those boots so bad that he took his cookie out of his mouth, threw it on the floor and then threw himself down. Yes, that's right....I said cookie. I had already gone to work and since they were home with just dad, they got half a cookie each in the morning.
I got Jake his own pair of rain boots yesterday. We'll see if he still prefers Megan's the next time she tries to wear them.
