Run for the Kids!

The Winner!
Originally uploaded by tracyg00
Last night, Megan participated in her 3rd annual Firefighters' Run for the Kids. Only one boy beat her.....so we decided that she was the winner of the girl's division. And, she did run like the wind -- that's my girl!

She's been saying some funny stuff lately. We were driving on the expressway last week and saw a convertible. She asked what kind of car it was, and I said, "it's a convertible, isn't it pretty cool?" And, she said, "Yeah, we should get one of those". She followed it up by saying, "The unfortunate thing is that your hair flies in your eyes and then you crash". Where does she come up with this stuff?

Then, while at a party at Scott & Chelsie's, she got a big box of hand-me-down Barbies. When Chelsie was going through the stuff and showing her what was in there, she looked at me and said, "I want to go home right now". Apparently just looking at all of the stuff was too enticing. She had to get home to start playing! And, once home.....there was a Barbie with long, dark hair and she was dressed in a ball gown. Megan said, "I think I'll call her Kristi Yamaguchi". Such a vocubulary, huh?

Sprinkler

Then, we went to the cottage in Wisconsin for the weekend and the mosquitos were terrible. Jake woke up on Sunday morning with 5 or 6 bites on his face. It's tough to see from this photo.....and now, Megan calls him "chicken pox". As in, "hi, chicken pox" ...."how are you, chicken pox?"

On July 2, we went to Montrose Beach and they had a great time.

Then, we had sparklers on July 5th.

Shortly after this next photo was taken, Jake touched the sparkler after it had gone out and got a little blister on his thumb and finger. I guess he's not ready for sparklers. Sorry Jake.

They had lunch in the pool on July 6th.

Swim Class

Swim Class - Week 1

(She's in a class with 4 other kids and Jake goes into the pool with me). Last week she did much better. It's a bit chaotic dealing with dressing 2 of them at the same time. When class was over, we went into the locker room and Jake wanted his trunks off right away. So, I wrapped him in a towel and put him on the bench with a bottle of water. I got myself changed and then got Megan set up and I looked over and Jake dumped the bottle of water on the floor. So, there was a big puddle and Megan was dancing around and this older woman came in, obviously going to her "regular" locker spot. She saw the madness with the puddle, etc, gave me the stink eye and turned around to find another locker. Good times.
