33 meatballs
Jimmy's birthday was August 26. It was also two days before he left for Florida. So, we hosted a little Thursday night gathering to celebrate his birthday and Larry's birthday and to send him off to sunny Florida. Every year, since he was a kid, my mom would make meatballs for his dinner and he would eat his age in meatballs. This year he ate 33 - along with mashed potatoes and corn (and this was for lunch).

Jake's First Day, too
Jake started school about a week after Megan. Although, I think he would have been perfectly happy staying home and playing with toys. This kid really loves his toys. Today he told me that he wanted to stay little so that he could play with his little kid toys forever. But I digress.....He likes school just fine once he gets there. And, take a look at those shoes. We bought him the Sketchers Super Z-Strap that he saw on TV. They're about a size and a half too big, but he insists upon wearing them anyway. Here's Jake coming out of school on his first day (which I believe was August 30).
This kid still says some pretty funny stuff. I've been bad about writing it down lately, but let's see what I can come up with:
1. He and Megan were playing with their kitchen set and I overheard, "Megan you be the cooker and I'll be the mattress". Then Megan said, "I think you're talking about a waitress, not a mattress".
2. I was giving him strawberries and he said, "Mom, cut the go light off". I was thinking, 'what is this kid talking about'? Then I finally realized he meant the green stem off of the top.
3. He had some Bakugan toys that he was playing with. He insists that they are called "Bathroom Gods"
I know there are so many more, but of course it's after 10:30 and I can't think of them. I'll interject in a later post if I think of more.

Megan Starts 1st Grade
Well, we've made it to full days with lunch at school. When did my baby turn into a kid?! This is a photo of her first day. They didn't wear uniforms for the first week, which is probably good because it was REALLY hot in her classroom. She came home from school on her first full day (8am - 3pm) and immediately took a nap. I guess it takes some getting used to! Here's another photo of her from that day, with her friend Julia:
