So, yesterday was an interesting day. In the morning, I was changing Jake's diaper in the family room. He was laying on Megan's sleeping bag (which she likes to lay in while watcing TV) and I apparently left his diaper off too long because he peed on me. I covered him up as quickly as I could with the new diaper, but it was too late and it got all over Megan's sleeping bag. She told me "wash it right now". So, I got Jake cleaned up, put him in the swing and went downstairs to wash the sleeping bag. I came upstairs to find Megan standing in front of Jake, pointing her finger at him and saying "don't pee on mama....only in your diaper, ok?" Her tone was definitely a scolding type -- not friendly.
Later on, I was making Apple Bread and Megan was helping by mixing up the dry ingredients. She was using a bit too much gusto, so I gave her a little bowl of flour to play with. I had my back to her as I was shredding the apples and when I turned around I saw flour all over her, the counter, the barstool and the floor. I must have had a shocked look on my face because she immediately said "Don't look at me!" I said, "Why -- because you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing?" and she said "Don't talk". Nice. Whatever....she had a good time.
Then, at dinner time, Megan had asked for a hot dog. So I gave her one in a bun. Jake was sitting next to her at the counter eating fruit and cheerios. I left the kitchen for a moment to let the dog out and put food in her bowl and when I came back, Jake had Megan's hot dog in his hand and had already eaten about 1-1/2" of the dog. I ran over there to get it from him and said, "Megan! Babies can't have hot dogs" And she said, "Jakie take it from me". Meanwhile Jake started freaking out because I took it away and I had to appease him with pieces of the bun.
So, what have we learned today?
1. Don't dilly dally when diapering a baby
2. Don't expect a 2 year old to be neat with flour
3. Don't leave a hot dog close to a ravenous 9 month old

Digging for Dinosaur Bones
Megan spent about 30 minutes discovering dinosaur bones at the Children's Museum. Unfortunately, I tweaked my back as we were leaving this exhibit by turning the wrong way when I stood up with Jake. It made for a long weekend -- poor Darin had to do everything around the house.
Chicago Children's Museum
We went to the Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier on Friday. Jake slept for the first half of our visit and then for the second half, he got his hands on anything he could reach. Here, he's pulling books out of the basket while Megan was drawing with chalk in the art room. He's starting to get some forward movement going....not quite up on his knees yet, but he's getting good at the army crawl.

Rockin' Out
This is Megan's cousin, Lili. She went to the sock hop with us last night and was a dancin' fool. She'd dance a bit, then take a lap around the hall....dance a bit, take a lap, and so on and so on. Then, they had some root beer floats and we headed out.

Budding Photographer
So, Megan's latest joy is running around with the digital camera, snapping pictures of anything and everything. It's really interesting to see how her little mind works ...... the other day she was snapping away and I opened up the fridge to get something out. She came up in front of me and snapped a photo. Then, she opened up the garbage and took a picture of that. I won't post that one for your viewing pleasure :-).....I just thought it was kind of interesting to see the world from her point of view.
Mmmm....Grapes
This guy loves to eat......he actually gets a little annoyed with pureed baby food now. I can keep him busy at the grocery store by feeding him samples the whole time -- and he likes everything! I know that will surely change, so we're gonna feed him a big variety of foods until he decides that he only wants to eat pb&j, mac-n-cheese, or chicken nuggets (like his sister).

Sibling Fun
The other night Megan thought it would be fun to push Jake up and down the hall in his little Radio Flyer push cart. He had a good time -- but I have to say that thing isn't easy to steer. She had him hitting walls like crazy. I had to spot them so that she couldn't give him a push right down the stairs. I think we'll save it for the sidewalk next time.

Jake's Baptism
Jake got baptized yesterday -- it's tough to see from this photo, but he had a little white tuxedo type outfit (bowtie & vest). He was really good in church -- I had to take him out near the end of the service because he was getting restless. We all went out for breakfast at J.C. George's afterwards -- it was also Darin's mom's birthday.
Last night, Megan started to sing happy birthday to Mimi on the phone and this is how it went:
"Happy Birthday to You" pause...."That's all my got." It was pretty funny.

Fifty Degrees!
Well, it hit the mid fifties yesterday! I noticed that I've been a little "Megan heavy" on the photos here, so I'm gonna try to give Jake a little more face time. We made it out to the park yesterday -- Jake's first time on a real swing. He loved it! He was laughing out loud every time I gave him a push. I have a feeling we'll be spending lots of time at the park as the weather gets warmer!
Big Sis - Showing him how it's done
You'll notice she has no shoes on here.....she got going pretty high and her boots flew right off.

Crab Walk
Darin was playing with the kids last night and taught Megan how to do the Crab Walk. This was the early stages of the lesson when everyone wanted to be on top of the crab. Jake didn't like it so much when Megan sat on top of him. Fun times.
Treasure Cay, Bahamas
Darin and I just got back from a long weekend in the Bahamas. We played a few rounds of golf, hung out on the beach and got a little tan. It's a nice break from this cold weather! Looks like a postcard, huh?
Stylish
Last week, Megan was picking out her clothes for the day and put together this dashing little number with a belted waist and sunglasses to top it off. She put on her rain boots (obviously not pictured) .....they are an off-white with little brown and pink flowers, etc. I said, "Wow, you look stylish" and she said "Like Jenny".
